US to give drink containers closer look at airports

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. authorities are warning air travelers to expect greater scrutiny of thermoses and other insulated drink containers at security checkpoints after intelligence suggested they could be used to hide explosives.

As a result, passengers flying within and to the United States may notice additional security measures related to insulated beverage containers in coming days, the notice posted on Thursday said.

Heavy snow strands Christmas travellers in Europe

My brother is traveling to England today. He's heading to Emirates Stadium to watch the Gunners face Chelsea. He plans to visit other parts of Europe too. Boy, I hope he could make it. Ice and snow could be dangerous.

Ex Semenyih assemblyman Ahmad Kuris acquitted of taking bribes

This guy had given a talk at our Surau. I hope for his sake, as a Muslim, that this is true i.e. that he's innocent. Coz' "with power comes great responsibility", and as an assemblyman he can influence many decisions.

Malaysian lorry driver strikes again

These drivers just don't care. Their "machine" are bigger and more powerful than the rest on the road; so they think they can do whatever they like. Punish them severely to teach others a lesson.

Girl and mum killed after collecting exam results

KOTA BARU: A 15-year-old girl and her mother were killed in a road accident in Kok Lanas town after they had collected the girl’s PMR examination result.

The spokesman said Azizah, who was riding the machine, had stopped at the lights when she was hit by a lorry carrying sandstone.

He said the lorry also crashed into three vehicles waiting behind the motorcycle.

Classic tale 'Three Kingdoms' retold in Malay

Yuen Boon Chan and Woo Tack Lok, who are established book and dictionary editors, took six years to translate the historical Chinese novel, which they have titled Hikayat Perang Tiga Negara, into Malay.

Three Kingdoms has already been translated into more than 10 languages. We felt it was a good book which should be translated into Malay for all Malaysians to enjoy,” said Yuen after presenting the 1,200 pages of the Malay manuscripts to Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) director-general Datuk Termuzi Abdul Aziz here yesterday.
