Mayor wants KL to be one of 20 most livable cities |
He pointed out that, according to the Economist, the three most livable cities in the world are Vancouver, Vienna and Melbourne. The measure of the cities' livability is based on the availability of goods and services, low personal risk and an effective infrastructure. |
"Kuala Lumpur is now ranked at 79 out of the 130 listed cities. We want it to be at least in the top 20.

"One of the main criteria is the effectiveness of the infrastructure, and the efforts to achieve this include the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) project in Greater KL. "Works on the project is expected to start in July and be completed by 2016. |
He said it was also City Hall's focus this year to ensure a clean, comfortable and green Kuala Lumpur, in line with its vision to transform Kuala Lumpur into a world class city by 2020. He said the river project was another initiative aimed at revitalising Klang River into a heritage and commercial centre for Greater KL. |
Next year, Ahmad Fuad said restaurant operators would be required to install WiFi broadband facilities under the regulations for new developments and licensing requirements. He said this would provide improved Internet accessibility for the public. Read more at www.nst.com.my |
