I read about ancient practice of Sati whereby the wife immolates herself on her husband's pyre, when I was still at primary school. I guess this boy can't bear the separation and his parent's wish. Pity.

Teen kills self by jumping into girlfriend’s funeral pyre
MAKKAL Osai reported that a 17-year-old boy in Punjab, India, shocked onlookers by jumping into the funeral pyre of his girlfriend who had committed suicide.
The girl had apparently taken her own life after her parents refused to accept their relationship.
Bittu Singh’s skeletal remains were found when the girl’s family returned to collect her ashes the next day.
